Pregnancy #2 : 31, 32, & 33 Weeks Update

It’s time for another pregnancy update, especially because I didn’t have time to post one last week. So three weeks of updates it is!

Pregnancy #2: 31, 32, & 33 Weeks Update

I’m about 34 weeks with Baby Perks #2 so it’s time to update on weeks 31, 32 & 33. She was about the size of a pineapple (wk 31), the size of a squash (wk 32) and is now around the size of a pineapple (wk 33).

Here’s what else Baby Perks #2 is doing now:

  • Baby Perks #2 weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark.
  • She’s rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening.
  • The bones in her skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal. These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as her brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

What’s happening with me:

pregnancy #2 33 weeks update

{those sriracha almonds are yumm! the photo was for a blog post taken a week ago}

How far along? I’m just about 34 weeks

Baby’s size? a pineapple

Total weight gain/loss: +23 pounds (updated today after my appt)

Sleep: I sleep suuuuuuper deeply and fall asleep really fast, but this past week I’ve been getting up to pee at least 1-2 times a night. For some reason during the painting/moving weeks I was able to sleep a solid 8-9 hours without having to pee, so it’s annoying to have to get up again a few times each night. But, at least I’m sleeping well when I’m in bed?

There was one night where I had a hard time falling back asleep because my mind was racing, but otherwise, I really can’t complain too much.

Best moment this week: Finding a coral colored throw for the family room. It really is perfect! And now to decide on a few pillows and/or patterns & other decor to go with it.

Miss Anything? Sitting upright for long periods of time. She is in my ribs now, so it is not very comfortable to sit upright for very long. Also, I miss lying on my stomach.

Movement: Yep! The movements are more rolls & distinct movements rather than just a jab here or there, and she definitely has very distinct awake and asleep cycles now.

Food cravings: All the fruit. All the ice (& ice water). All the popsicles. And all the juice/lemonade. Oh and ice cream, cinnamon toast crunch, and cheese/turkey sandwiches made strong appearances these past few weeks too.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No. Which is so nice because with my first pregnancy the nausea came back around this time.

Boy or Girl?: GIRL!! <3

Symptoms: Feeling more exhausted than normal. Man, I am just tired! By like 7 p.m. I’m so donezo it’s not even funny.

Leg cramps. The joy of having major cramping in my calves just can’t even be described…..

Nesting. I’ve obviously been organizing our home & such little by little, but I just want it all to be organized & somewhat put together so I do something every day. I can promise that if I weren’t pregnant & didn’t have a real deadline, I’d be a whole lot lazier about the whole ‘get settled’ in thing.

Maternity clothes: I wear a mix of regular and maternity clothes–it just depends on what fits well and what doesn’t. All my regular bottoms are maternity, but fitness-apparel wise, I just wear what fits. <–same

Belly button-in or out? basically all out

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! And tired. So tired.

Funny moments this week: When we realized Lily was saying “babe” to call for Jared in the house. Apparently I really do have a mini-me, because that is what I usually say to get Jared’s attention. Haha!

Looking forward to: Having the baby’s room a little more finished…..gotta get somebody to do that! 😉

Fitness update (31, 32, & 33 weeks):

pregnancy #2 // 33 weeks update

  • I am still teaching Les Mills’ BODYPUMP™, CXWORX™, GRIT™ Strength, & also Zumba weekly. I love it all and feel strong in it all. To be honest, with this pregnancy I feel even stronger than I did with my first, and I have no idea why that is, but I’ll take it!
  • Nothing has felt off or uncomfortable yet, so I’m still basically teaching the same as I did before I was pregnant. I can’t talk when I bend over to change my weights though. It’s funny how I have no problem squatting a bunch of weight, but get me to try and breathe normal while talking & bending over? No can do. Hah.

How this (these) week(s) differed from my pregnancy with Lily:

In looking back over these weeks’ updates from my 1st pregnancy, they are pretty similar once again. I do feel more tired this go around than I did when I was pregnant with Lily, but as I’ve mentioned before, I’m sure that having a toddler to chase, moving this month, and all that jazz has attributed to that.

I’m more motivated this pregnancy to get random stuff done before baby (organized closets, Lily’s room settled, etc.), but I’m wayyyyy more relaxed about having actual baby stuff ready for the baby, if that makes sense? I guess I just figure if we don’t have it right away Jared can go get it or we can order it from amazon. 😉 I was way more uptight with my first pregnancy on having everything in place than I am now. But to be fair, we already do have several items like a swing, a bouncer, a glider, a pack’n’play etc., so I think that plays into that feeling of not needing it all to be ‘ready’ for her.

And to be honest, I think I’ll go past my due date again (I’m measuring slightly behind like I did with Lily), so I don’t feel as rushed to have it all in place just yet….Talk to me in a few weeks though. 😉

Other updates:

I was starting to think about my birth plan with this baby, and here are a few things I loved about Lily’s birth (part 1, part 2) that I’d like to have again:

  • lights dimmed for the last part of labor so she doesn’t come out into super bright lights
  • having Jared cut the cord, but not right away (if medically possible)
  • I will request to not be hooked to an IV so I can move about (aka having a hep lock again)
  • having a room with a jetted tub (that was so so so helpful last time!)
  • requesting nurses that like working with moms who do not want an epidural (I loved our nurses last time because none of them pushed any sort of drugs on me)
  • having skin-to-skin time for at least an hour and then letting them weigh/measure baby (I loved that time so so much with Lily)

I still have some more brainstorming to do, and need to review the actual birth plan I used with Lily, but once again, I’m more relaxed this go around and know what really mattered to me versus what was just something I thought would be nice, and those were the things that popped into my head right away.

I also want to make sure I am well hydrated and well fed before going into labor. I absolutely know I was dehydrated & hungry with Lily’s birth (nothing sounded good once I was in labor & I couldn’t keep anything down either during), so I want to be more diligent in taking care of myself leading up to the due date (& beyond).

I also want to use essential oils throughout the birth & after birth on the baby. Last time we had them with us, but we totally forgot to use them much.

We are planning on a drug-free birth that happens naturally (so no inducement unless medically necessary), and will use the Hypnobirthing techniques we learned from last time. I obviously get that everything doesn’t always go according to plan, and we will consult with my doc throughout, but these are our hopes. <3

*******

Have a FANTASTIC day!

What are some things you loved about your baby’s birth/after birth?? What would you change/do differently if you could?

  6. I’m not looking forward to having to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom! Last time it was about 30 weeks for me (lucky) until I had to interrupt my precious sleep for that.

Unfortunately with my son, my labor ended in a c-section. His dang head was so big it wouldn’t fit… and they tried ALOT to help it through. This time around my csection will be scheduled, I just hope to go in well rested, hydrated and fed. Plus I hope they allow me to do skin to skin while im in the O.R.

  12. You’re a rockstar, Annette! I can’t believe you’re still killing it at Les Mills. That’s so great!

And I was way more relaxed in getting things ready for Andi. I think it made the whole experience better because I wasn’t obsessing over every little thing being perfect. Amazon has been our saving grace since she arrived in getting all those last minute things.

Can’t wait to see pictures of your new little princess! 2 girls – what a blessing! You’re in for some fun years – lots of dress up & tea parties in your future!! <3
