Our Weekend {Food ‘n’ Mother’s Day} Highlights

Hiiii everyone!

Thank you for your kind comments and support on yesterday’s post! It’s tough to realize you need to do something different, but motherhood is a learning process and definitely a trial & error thang, so I’m just going to roll with it. ;)

I never did share about the rest of our weekend, including Mother’s Day, so here are some highlights (food ‘n’ more)!

Linking up with Jenn on this one!

 Our Weekend {Food ‘n’ Mother’s Day} Highlights

So Friday, right after I taught Zumba (we had the car all packed before leaving), and picked up baby L from gym daycare (Jared was out grabbing groceries), we drove into a tsunami rain storm (!!), and headed to the mountain house.

weekend highlights

After nursing her once we got there, we put baby L right to bed (she sleeps like a champ in the Pack ‘n’ Play), and we got to work unpacking and getting settled in. There were some workers there fixing a pipe, so we were without water for a few hours (yikes).

I’ve never been so excited to shower! It was a glorious shower. P.s.I am thankful for flushing toilets. You never know what you have until you don’t have it…..

Anyways.

We got our part of dinner prepped, baby L fed, and just hung out for a bit until our friends arrived!

We hosted the lovely Zevia dinner party (<–read on to hear more about that), and then after the kiddos were in bed (4 between the 3 couples), we all went in the hot tub. So much hilariousness ensued. I love those couples! (The guys are Jared’s buds from school and I adore their wives!)

We then ate dessert (brownies & rice krispie treats <–forgot to snap a pic), and finally, settled in to watch a movie at like 10 p.m (!!) Definitely past my bed time (and I paid for it Saturday), but it was worth it. We watched the 2nd Thor movie and I liked it!

Saturday we hung out, and one of the other girls made us yummy flatbread pizzas (arugula, a tart berry spread, gorgonzola, and pine nuts. SO SO good).

And drank more Zevia. :)

{isn’t my friend a great food-holding model?! ;) }

We said our goodbyes to them, and then spent the rest of the day lounging about, reading, napping, and feeding/playing with baby L.

We went in the hot tub after she was in bed and watched a movie together just the two of us. It was nice to go to bed by 10 too! Annnnnd Lily slept in until 9 a.m. on Sunday, so I felt pretty rested again!<—-GREAT Mother’s Day present

We headed home in the morning, Lily took a nap & we unpacked, and then we all got ready and went to church.

weekend highlights

She was super cute all day long!

Goodness, I love it when she is feeling like herself, fed well, and slept well–she’s a super fun baby to be with! (read: last week’s eating fiasco + her not feeling well = one really hard week)

weekend highlights

Awwwww. I love when she clutches her toys!

Selfie Sunday {Mother’s Day}! <–bags under my eyes to prove I am a mother! haha

Jared had prepared me some meals so I didn’t have to do any dishes, and he pretty much did anything I wanted for me. It was so sweet! (He is good about helping helping me all the time, but he was extra vigilant about it all on Sunday. :)

We headed to his parents’ house after church for dinner, and on the way I FaceTimed with my mom! It was perfect. :) Goodness, I love her so!

We had a Mexican fiesta dinner (the men cooked it all) complete with a dulche de leche type dessert.

So grateful I get to be the wife to this ham. ;)

mother's day

And I’m so blessed to have this little princess. She made me a mother 6+ months ago, and has lit up my life since!

I felt very lucky, grateful, blessed, happy, stuffed (haha), and joyous as I rode home in the car with my two favorite people. They are such a blessing to me, and I am lucky to have them. <3

Have a WONDERFUL day, ya’all! :)

What were some delicious eats YOU had over the weekend??! What is one thing YOUR mother taught YOU really well??!

  5. My husband’s cousin got married this weekend and, for the first time in forever, the reception food was actually really tasty. A lot of times, the food’s dry or not well-seasoned, so I was pleasantly surprised with what we had.
