  2. While I’ve never competed in a race before, trail running beats regular running (as long as you’re careful) in terms of the scenery. Maybe some day I will sign up for one, but racing with a bunch of other people around kinda frightens me; I don’t like to fall and get hurt ;) Today I’m grateful for friends and sunshine. A good friend and I took a long walk outside yesterday; it felt so good to be outside

  4. It’s always great to have a race coming up to work toward a goal.

I’ve never done a trail race, but I’ve done plenty of trail hikes in the Bay Area and the uneven terrain TOTALLY changes the game on your body. I’d recommend getting as much time as you can out in the wilderness to prepare. Are you used to the altitude? Probably so since you live close by, but factor that condition in as well.

    Happy Thursday! :)

  5. Yay! What an awesome opportunity! You will totally rock this. Wish I could do it with you! Can’t wait to hear all about your adventures throughout your training and the event!

  6. SO FUN! I’ve never done a trail race, but years ago when I did my first triathlon I did a lot of trail runs during training. Definitely get outside for more than a few of your training runs. I’d also recommend thinking about your shoes – do they have enough traction? I don’t know that you need trail-specific shoes, but you’ll still want to consider how much grip and give they’ll have for trails.

  8. I’ve never done a trail race, but for high school gym class we used to run a few km on the trail around the pond near the school…does that count? ;-)

  10. So fun!!! I think a relay would be really fun to do! I’m thankful for the fact that there are only 4 or 5 weeks left until summer. This teacher has had a rough year and is more than ready for a break! BUT…I do love my kiddos. Most of the time. ;-)
