Friday Things

Hello, hello!

Happy Friday! :)

I’m linking up with Katie today.<–join the fun!

Friday Things

1. Living by the mountains has its perks!

With views like this:

Gorgeous huh?

I was on my way to coach a GRIT class, and the sun was rising over the mountains. Goodness, the earth is beautiful. <3

2. Baby Lily’s face just makes me happy.

There aren’t words to describe how much light and goodness she brings to my life. I feel very blessed to have her be a part of my life!

She seems to capture everyone’s attention when we go anywhere too…especially with those big blues of hers.

I think she’s pretty cute too!

With that being said though-being a mom is hard, and the other night, she didn’t want to sleep for long periods of time. Weird? And so frustrating! I can’t complain too much though because she is a really good sleeper usually….buuuuut the not-great night (and early wake-up) happened to occur the one night I could’ve slept for longer (sleeping in). Of course, right?! ;)

3. I found an amazing breakfast!

friday things

Why haven’t I ever heard of/seen this before? This stuff is GOOD.

And it’s easy/fast to cook….which is exactly perfect for my lazy self.

My mom had made it a few times for breakfast when we were up at the house skiing, and it was so delicious! She mentioned it was Trader Joe’s, so when I was there last week I picked some up. Good idea on my part…I’ve eaten it every day!

4. My little brother is 16 today. What?!

Holy smokes. How is that even possible?!

I have 9 siblings…and he is number 9 (of 10), so it’s crazy to me that he is 16. Happy Birthday bro!

Everyone, stay off the roads though…. ;) hehe.

He really is a stud, works hard in school, and is on the rowing team. Pretty cool, huh?

5. I ate a snack the other day that I must share about here:

friday things

I posted it on Instagram, but I must take a moment here and share about how good it was.

Whole wheat bread, almond butter, honey (from Switzerland–the best), sliced apples, and sprinkle of cinnamon.

Mmmmmm!

It hit the spot, and I will be eating it again soon I am sure!

6. I am thinking of doing a mix of BLW and purees….

Has anyone else done a mix of baby led weaning and spoon-feeding purees with their baby?

I have no idea what I want to do–I like the idea of both, so I am thinking I will do both. Am I crazy??

7. I am going to BLEND 2014!

Wahoo! I am excited. :)

BLEND

Come with me to BLEND (and let them know I referred you when you register!)….I may or may not be teaching a Zumba class there (if it rains)! So now you must come–and pray for rain. haha ;)

Last year was SO fun at BLEND, so I encourage you–blogger or not–to come!

8. I love Easter.

With Easter being this Sunday, I just wanted to share my thoughts–I am so grateful for my Savior, the Son of God, and for what He has done for every single one of us. Because He lives we too shall live again. <3 I know this is true in my heart, and it brings me so much peace & joy!

And because of that hope, I want to share it with you too. I hope you enjoy the message of Him who lives and loves us.

“Because Jesus Christ is the Savior of all mankind it’s possible for each of us to live again with God.”

Have a GREAT Easter weekend!!! <3

What is on YOUR mind today??! What did YOU do/how did YOU feed your baby??! Best snack YOU’ve had lately??!

  1. Thanks for sharing that BEAUTIFUL mountain view this morning. Makes me so excited for our babymoon to the Adirondacks in June!! As simple as it is, I’m loving cheese and crackers lately. I overdid the crackers first trimester, so they became unappealing for weeks. Until a few days ago, and now I can’t get enough when they’re married with kerrygold dubliner cheese :)

  2. happy easter!! random question – did/do you avoid any foods while breastfeeding? i asked my doctor and he said if we listened to the books i’d be on a bread and water only diet haha he said i could eat anything and if there were issues we would tackle them then (avoiding or limiting caffeine and alcohol of course which is no big deal) just wondering! :)

    • Oh man, I am the wrong person to ask…haha. I ate my same diet…but I don’t drink coffee or have much caffeine naturally–so that wasn’t something I had to watch out for. I know people freak out about dairy and protein powders…I didn’t. And she was just fine. However, in the first few months, avoid super spicy foods–it does not turn out good, I promise!! < ---she cried for hours (I felt so bad but had totally forgotten about the non spicy rule when my sister made a delicious curry in early Jan.)

  3. I love Easter, but sadly, I don’t get to go home to Florida to spend it with my family this year. My husband and I will be having our own celebration, including going to a huge gorgeous city church on Sunday. Hope you have a great weekend:)

  5. Annette, This is off topic, but I tried Fitmixer Aminos because I read about them on your blog. Oh my goodness! Are you sure it’s not just CoolAide?! It tastes just like it! :) I had to teach kickboxing, abs, and my freestyle barbell class last night. I usually get really weak, but I was able to get through the classes with a good amount of energy. I definitely credit the aminos. Thanks for your blog! I am learning and benefiting so much from your posts!

  9. I am as well thinking of doing a mix of BLW and purées. I’m just not sure! We started oatmeal the other day per drs recommendations and she loves it! Do you have any good info on BLW? Please share!

  10. Do the steel-cut “quick” oats taste different than regular oats? I’m intrigued!

I (unintentionally) did a combo of BLW and purees. I was initially planning on doing mostly BLW, but then Hunter had gagging issues and didn’t eat great, so we’ve done a combo. It’s worked great! Typically they get better at finger foods around 8-10 months so BLW gets easier. But even when they’re younger it’s fun to watch them play with different foods on their own.

I love Easter too!!! Happy Easter! <3

P.S. YAY for Blend! Sooooo happy you're going, and I can't wait to see you! xoxo

    • yes the steel-cut oats do taste different (IMO better!!) I LOVE ‘em. They have a great texture, and I feel like they are more filling. So so good.
