Newborn Truths

Hi friends!

Yesterday was awesome-so fun and fulfilling, and yet it flew by! I hardly blinked and BAM it was bedtime again.

I got to see my peeps at the gym, babysit my friend’s little girl, hang with baby Lily (duh), and chill with Ashley & Hunter.

Baby Lily loves Ashley!!

And so do I. She’s quite the friend! She’s just so real, fun, and energetic. We could talk all day & night & not be done talking or sick of each other. Blogger buddies rock, folks!

Newborn Truths

Ya know how people use the hashtag #truth to really MEAN what they say? Like it adds emphasis to their status, pic, and other social media stuff?

Well, if you didn’t know that, that is what it means.

#yourewelcome

haha.

For example: “these cookies taste amazing #truth” or “I didn’t brush my hair today #truth”

Well, I got some Newborn Truths for ya. Like WHOAH #TRUTH

Since you know, I have a newborn and all and I am new to this, like WHOAH.

{p.s. I will use the pronoun she & her because that is what I have. Also, this is my experience (and I’ve def exaggerated some), but from what I understand, most of this stuff is preeeeetttyyy universal in baby land}

Newborn Truths

newborn truths

  • A few minutes after you put your newborn in the cutest outfit ever, she will barf on it.
  • A few minutes after you put your newborn in a special holiday outfit, she will poop in it.
  • About 5 minutes after you’ve changed your baby’s diaper, she will poop in it.
  • About 3 minutes after you put your baby in her crib, she will magically wake up and be super alert & ready to play.
  • Five minutes after your head hits the pillow your baby will wake up crying and want to eat.
  • Ten minutes after you’ve decided she has burped enough, you put her down in her crib and she barfs everywhere. Meaning she did not get her burps out….
  • Five minutes after you’ve decided to have some awesome mom & dad time, your baby wakes up.
  • Approximately 20 seconds after you put her in her carseat asleep, she wakes up!
  • After your baby has been sleeping awhile (either on your chest, in your arms, or next to you), when you go to transfer her to her bed, she will magically awaken from her deep sleep.
  • Ten minutes after you leave the house with your husband watching the baby (who is asleep in her crib), she will awaken and miss you. And not want to be soothed for most of the time you are gone.
  • About 4 minutes after you’ve gotten yourself dressed again, your baby decides to wake up from her milk coma and wants more milk!
  • Just as you’re about to leave the house with a happy, clean, well fed baby, she will projectile vomit everywhere.
  • Right when you think she won’t burp this time, and you place her in her crib, she will get fussy and you will have to pick her back up. And burp her. This happens about 10 times in a row usually.
  • When you think you’re going to be on time (and you’re excited about it), the baby will do SOME thing to make sure that doesn’t happen.
  • As you are in your deepest sleep, and enjoying that really awesome rest, baby will awaken and decide it is time to play.
  • When you decide to go out and run errands, baby will decide that is when she is most hungry.
  • Your baby will awaken exactly 30 minutes before your alarm is going to go off.
  • Just when you think you’ve nailed her routine and understand her cues, she goes and totally pulls a 180 on ya.
  • Just when you think she slept amazing one night, she will proceed to wake up every 3 hours the next night.
  • A few minutes after she has fallen asleep while eating you decide to burp her. She stays asleep during all of that, but quickly awakens once put in her crib.

TWO more.

  • She will steal your heart forever. <3
  • And you’ll be willing to do/experience any and all of the above again and again and again, with a smile on your face because your baby is so precious. :)

*****

Well, I am off to teach BP for the last time for awhile, and then I need to get serious about packing…..you think it’s bad when you have to pack for yourself? Add a baby to the mix, a weight limit for bags, and flying for Christmas, and it’s kind of a nightmare.

Ahhh well. It’ll all get figured out somehow…..

Have a GREAT day! <3

What are some newborn truths YOU want to add to the list??! What is something YOU are looking forward to today?!?

  3. Oh new momdom :) The truths get even more interesting as they grow. I am especially loving our toddler truths haha. Have to say I relate with most of the ones you have with Bryn – especially about the diapers. We should be taking stock in Pampers at the rate homegirl is going through them.

  7. Omg this is too funny but because it is all so true!! :) I think its important to laugh off some of the crazy things newborns do rather then stress about it. But i totally agree with the first truth…. “A few minutes after you put your newborn in the cutest outfit ever, she will barf on it.”

  8. I’ve never had a newborn of my own (duh) but I’ve nannied for some pretty little babies and these are SO true. I swear, the little one could be sleeping in my arms for 30 minutes and sleep through a huge crash, but as soon as I move to put him down, he’s 100% awake. Yay babies ;) It’s a good thing they’re cuties!

  15. she is so precious and yes, lots of truth there! :) I think I’ve set an alarm clock once in the past 18 months for an early flight. The rest of the time my early bird always gets me up on time (usually earlier!!). good luck packing and flying for Christmas! you’ve probably read all the flying tips with babies but let me know if you need any ideas. Newborn truth (especially for boys): the baby will wait to pee until being placed in the bathtub.

Newborn truth: just when you think you couldn’t possibly love the little bundle of joy anymore they give you a big toothless smile & your heart about explodes…making up for the peeing in the tub.
