Hit and Run 5K + Weekend Stuff

Hey friends!

{Yep, still chugging along. Baby girl is stubborn and slightly late to the party! Takes after her mama already….}

This weekend started off horrendously — waiting for a baby is no joke, p.s.– but it ended really well. Thanks to some nice diversions, a great husband, some fun friends, a good bath, and nice reminder that patience is a virtue we’re all trying to work on, I was able to have a nice weekend. :)

Weekend Stuff

I’ll share just a few pics from our weekend, and then below, is the more formal review of the Hit and Run 5K. Enjoy!

Friday after work, Jared and I headed to Scheels to pick up his race packet.

They gave us a free token, so after walking around the store for a bit, we bought another token & took a ride on the ferris wheel.

Pretty awesome! I was impressed with the ride-and Jared & I had fun. :)

Afterwards we got some dinner, and then we both lazed about.

Saturday came quickly….

Breakfast:

Hello whole wheat pumpkin bread. Dang that stuff is GOOD.

{I may not bake or cook a lot, but apparently when I do, I can get some killer stuff out of it! ;)}

Saturday at the race!

Bloggers & friends for life! {Me & Ashley}

And then we all got pizza post-race.

{p.s. check out how lovingly Cody is looking at Jared. hahahahahaha. They’re BFFs too, so it makes Ash & me really happy! But we def have a good laugh about it!}

After pizza we all said our goodbyes, but Jared and I wanted to explore downtown SLC a bit, and to find me a green smoothie.

Success! It was super yumm.

The rest of the day I read, took a bath, did laundry, watched some stuff on hulu, and tried to keep my mind off the fact it was my DUE DATE and nothing was happening. 😉 Jared did homework.

Sunday was spent at church–where I gave a lesson on being patient (hah! Ironic much?!)–and then I took an epic nap. Dinner & chillin’ followed.

It was a great fall weekend! And yes, I made that soup. It was sooooo good (butternut squash soup in the blendtec. oh yes).

p.s. Technically my ‘due’ date extends to this Saturday because most 1st babies are born between 40-41 weeks, so I am still hopeful. And keeping my chin up! I learned a lot while prepping my lesson about patience! 😉

Hit and Run 5K Race Recap

First of all, this Hit and Run 5K race was SO much fun to watch! I obviously didn’t do the race, but the kind race director said Jared could take my place. He was super grateful because we both LOVE the show Wipe Out (hilarious!), and he was stoked to participate.

There were about 7 obstacles within the 5K course, and so there was running in between each obstacle. The race was not timed, and it was super laid back, which I thought was fabulous. Everyone had huge smiles on their faces & there was a LOT of laughter.

Jared was ready to tackle it!

The cool thing about it for spectators was that because of the running involved between the obstacles, we had time to walk pretty near to each obstacle & watch our friends/family get hammered.

{p.s. can you see Jared in the grey shirt??! hah}

The first 3 obstacles were huge red balls they had to roll, the slide & obstacle course they had to go over (I couldn’t get closer), and then the flying balls with opening doors one.

Jared said they were each pretty fun! They were def a blast to watch, that is for sure. 😉

Then they did 2 different obstacles with those huge blue balls & walking across these tall blue thingees. Hilarious to watch ’em all kind of fall & biff it.

I had some good laughs!

Oh did they get soapy! They said it was super slippery & a bit hard to see, but Jared & Cody had fun getting as soaped up as possible.

Boys.

That final obstacle with the spinning red balls (with water below in the pit!) was hilarious to watch!

And the race people let Jared & Cody go a few times through, which they loved. Obviously!

Then they crossed the finish line as true champions.

They did it!

Afterwards we drank hot chocolate (yummmmm!) and ran into Janae, who was about to go do the race herself!

So so fun.

Jared said it was really fun to participate in (and I could tell, he was having so much fun!), and that it’s definitely best when you do it with people you’re friends with.

I’m off to teach some BP/CX (and hopefully kick her out with it….), and then work.

Have a GREAT Monday!

What is something fun YOU did over the weekend??! What is YOUR favorite post-race meal?!?! Have YOU ever done an obstacle course type race?? Do YOU watch Wipe Out?!?

    Sending you lots of patient vibes (patience isn’t my strong point though, so I don’t have much to send over). Baby girl will be here before you know it!

    I was spoiled this weekend: driven to Austin, taken to the Austin City Limits fest where we missed the rain for one of the 2 days, lol, enjoyed luxurious baths and a hotel suite, amazing food galore, shopping, and bought myself some cowgirl boots, chocolates and more fun stuff. super fun!!! i love feeling like a princess, why not? Despite the torrential storms and obstacles of our own, the man and I had a lovely weekend!

    Okay, not that I want you miserable for the next week, but baby girls born on October 19 are pretty darn special. 😉 (just sayin’ out of personal favoritism for that date!!)

    Over the weekend, I had some great workouts, tailgated, and went to the UCLA/Cal game at the Rose Bowl – fun!! :) Favorite post-race meal: BREAKFAST! Eggs, breakfast potatoes, fruit, and pancakes! I have done the Camp Pendleton Mud Run which has military obstacles (rope/wall climb, trudging through mud, going through a lake, charging up a muddy hill, etc.), but the Hit & Run Run looks WAY fun!!

    Stay strong girlie!! You look beautiful (love that pic of you and soapy Jared). It WILL be a great week! :) :) :)

  12. I’ve been a little low on patience myself lately :/ We have a border collie puppy who just got spayed and she can’t go on walks/play ball aka her life. SO she’s been driving us carazzzzy. lol. I should have went to your Church on Sunday to get some help with my patience.

    Favourite post race meal would be a whole lot of thai food or pizza. Pizza is such a classic food and I always love it
