Friday Confessions {10}

Hey. Hey.

Happy Friday!

It’s the weekend and I am stoked about that–Jared was super busy this week back to school and all, so I’ve missed him & have been pretty lonely. I can’t wait to get in some quality time! Plus, if nothing happens with Baby Perks, we might be heading up to the mountain house to hang with some fam.

We shall see!

Friday Confessions {10}

1. Sweet potato fries & ketchup are my jam.

My favorite snack as of late!

friday confessions / sweet potato fries / ketchup

2. I can not stand waiting in checkout lines.

I am probably one of the most impatient people ever (but I am working on it!), so when I go to the grocery store, I of course look for the shortest line. And when that line ends up being sloooooooow, I start checking out other lines to see if they’re faster.

Same thing with driving in a car–can not STAND being behind someone who is going just at or below the speed limit.

My husband on the other hand is super patient & doesn’t mind the waiting. I GO BANANAS.

So he is often calming me down. ;)

3. This article is really fantastic.

How to find a real man-who he is & why he’s worth the wait

I loved the points the author made about how a ‘real man’ is someone worth finding & waiting for. And how we as women should NEVER settle. I’ve said this before on the blog but I am SO glad I didn’t end up with the guy I dated before Jared. He seemed great on the outside but he was an emotional basket case & treated me pretty poorly.

When I met Jared I was totally floored at how kind & such a gentleman he was. I wasn’t sure he was for real?!?

He was. And he is. So ladies, read this article & buoy yourselves up. The dating games, the time, the effort is SO worth it when you eventually find a ‘real man.’ Don’t settle.

4. If you think you’re perfect or your kids are perfect, and that you’re better than someone else, you’re lying to yourself.

Something that I’ve just been thinking about lately.

No one is perfect, so stop waltzing around thinking you or your kids are. It’s annoying & has gots to stop.

sorry. rant over. (and yes I said gots)

I’ve just encountered a few instances lately and it drives me crazy when someone thinks they’re better than someone else because they SEEM to have everything together. Perfection is an illusion that will always bring you up short. Stop chasing the illusion, stay humble, and be kind.

Why do we as humans have to put people down so much so we can feel better about ourselves?! BE KIND.

5. I had a doc’s appt yesterday….

Yah. That was majorly disappointing. I’m more effaced (80%), but STILL only a 1.

Pretty sure she’s super cozy in there & not coming any time soon. Le sigh.

friday confessions

{hello bump! 39W4D}

It’s fine, it really is, but it’s such a bummer when you get your hopes up, and you think you have an intuition, and it all comes crashing down on you. Like “nope you ain’t right and you’re not gettin’ what you want right now.” #justbeinghonest #tryingtostaypatient

Oh well. I’ll just enjoy doing things by myself (and/or with Jared) until she makes her debut! I’ve got a few books I want to read, so I’ll just bury myself in those. ;)

6. I went to the grocery store for ONE item I just had to have right then (and came out with 20 other things, but that’s beside the point)….any guesses to what the ONE item was?

friday confessions

Oh yah baby. Corn Pops are the jam.

My mom never bought sugar cereals, so I always loved going to sleepovers with a few certain friends because their houses were FULLY stocked with sugary cereals, and specifically, Corn Pops.

My fave.

7. I don’t mind the rain if I get to stay inside in comfy clothes.

I seriously love the sun & sunshine (and the tan that comes along with it. hah), so when it rains, I’m usually not too happy about it.

BUT, I do like when it rains & I can hang out at home in pj-like clothes, and curl up with a good book & some hot herbal tea.

8. I am gonna go ahead & eat a sandwich whenever I want.

friday confessions / sandwich

I love those things. Piled high with cheese, tomato, turkey, mustard, lettuce and more cheese.

And I’m out!

*******

Have a GREAT weekend! <3

What are some of YOUR confessions of late?! Do YOU love sandwiches–and if YOU do, what do YOU like on it?! What is YOUR favorite cereal??!

    • oh gosh, me too! i bet it tasted heavenly. I remember drinking the milk at then end thinking it tasted like candy. haha

p.s. Annette, you look so good! hope that baby comes soon!

  2. Loved that corn pops Instagram shot! :) That was one of my very favorite cereals as a kid, but I haven’t had it in years! My other favorites were raisin bran, crispix and grape-nuts.. I was a strange kid! Ha! ;)

  3. Agree-perfection doesnt exist!! Hang in there. I was sad when i went over due, but actually kind of loved being induced!!

  4. Wendy M says:

“Perfection is an illusion that will always bring you up short” – LOVE!! You could even just say “perfection is an illusion”….super good stuff! Well said!

  5. Mmm, sugar cereal are the best. I was pretty bummed when they got rid of the Corn Pops foil bag, and replaced it with a plastic one. Sad day.

Finding a good man is really a great feeling. So happy you held out for a good one ;).

  6. Annie says:

I LOVE sandwiches!! I’m recovering from an ED where I would never allow myself to eat them as there was too much bread (except during a binge of course, you know the drill) but now I’m enjoying one almost every day! Hummus is probably my favorite but I love tomatoes, salad, ham, cheese, egg mayo, anything goes really!
I have absolutely zero patience as well and I do the same thing with checkouts – I always seem to pick the wrong one too! And don’t talk to me about driving – once I was driving with my ex and I was annoyed at the car in front which was going about 20km/h under the limit. Then we passed the signpost where the limit was written and saw that in fact, he was 20km/h OVER the limit which meant that had we been alone I would have been waaaay over without even realizing it lol!! We had a good laugh.

Oh and, nobody has it together, really. We just do our best and make this shit work!

    • I used to never eat sandwiches either–b/c I was scared of carbs/bread. So I’m glad we’re in the same boat–loving ‘em! Twinners ;)

  7. Mmm…so craving some sweet potato fries now. Which is making me excited for Thanksgiving this weekend!!
Yes, so true about that perfectionism trap. No one is perfect, and it’s a little delusional to think that anyone has it all together…because no one does.
We al have our faults, but that’s what I love about others. Finding their differences and being okay with the fact we are all different.
No one is better than anyone else. We are all equals and all deserving of love.
Aw man! Totally thought she’d be here already! Maybe next week will be the week!
I love simple sandwiches – just some strawberry jam and almond butter. Yum.

  12. One of my confessions is that I’m not super into homecoming at my school this year, and it’s my senior year. It makes me feel like something is wrong with me! Another thing that I confess is that I often worry I will never find “the one.” The article you shared… it actually made me tear up a bit. I know I’m young and have time to find a good one, but sometimes when I am surrounded by happy relationships it feels little hard to imagine!

    • You def will! But don’t worry, you’ve got plenty of time :) I had to date & kiss a bunch of frogs before I met my prince….so take your time!

  13. I am super impatient as well and I like being in control so I can totally understand where you are coming from waiting for baby girl to come. I am not pregnant but I just know that is going to be one of the toughest things for me once I am. Going away to the mountain house sounds like a good way to take your mind off of it though! Hopefully it isn’t too remote though in case you do have to go to the hospital!

  14. Nicole says:

Confession: I desperately need to clean out my closets. They are a MESS with a capital “M”. Confession: My birthday is next weekend and I’m not excited. First time in years I haven’t been jazzed to have a birthday. (I’m gonna be 33, so….) Sandwiches: Lately, I’ve been loving “egg sandwiches”: Scrambled eggs on buttered wheat toast. Cereal: Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

  15. oh lord, I should read the article in #3

  16. I can totally attest to #2! Our pastor did a sermon several months ago that I’ll never forget. He was talking about how we’re always in such a rush and that we just need to SLOW down. Slow down to be kind, slow down in order to give more time to God, slow down so we don’t go CRAZY. I felt like he was talking directly to me because I’m totally one of those people that’s always checking out the fastest line at the grocery store, and then I get frustrated when I realize that the reason the line I got in is so short is because no one wants to stand behind the crazy coupon lady. LOL.

LOVE your thoughts on #4! Couldn’t agree more!

Lastly, hang in there lady. I got induced early at 38 weeks (out of my control, as you know), but even at that point, I was feeling impatient, so I can only imagine what you’re feeling right now. Huge hugs! If you need me to come over and distract you, I’m here! And major props for continuing to teach – you’re amazing!

  17. You look freakin’ amazing!! You’re so close to having your baby, I can’t imagine how impatient I’ll be at that point in my pregnancy! That sandwich also looks amazing.

  18. Corn Pops are amazing! They look different for you guys than they do in Canada – ours are more round. I wonder how much the tastes matches up?
And definitely feel you on being grateful for being with the person you are now than the person you dated before them – my ex, who I dated on and off for 5 years, had absolutely no ambition in life and was perfectly content to drop out of school and sit in his mom’s basement and play video games all day. Glad I got away from that!

  21. I love sandwiches, but rarely get one. I should fix that soon. The best sandwich I ever had (I ate it for 4 meals in a row) was turkey and fig. pure heaven.

Confession: I can’t stand Corn Pops. When I was younger, my family was on a road trip and he hurled those things EVERYWHERE. I still, to this day, cannot get the sight or the smell out of my head.

  22. I looooooooooooooooove Golden Grahams. Probably my most favorite cereal ever.

  23. great, now I need to go to the grocery store and get me some corn pops – man I love that stuff!! But better for more dessert than actual breakfast, because that isn’t going to keep anyone full for long! Have a great weekend. . . enjoy the time together before baby changes everything!!

  24. Keep your chin up! Baby Perks will be here before you know it! I went to the doctor last Friday and was only 1 more centimeter dilated from the previous appointment. We scheduled an induction and I left feeling pretty bummed that I wouldn’t be going into natural labor. Then I went home and started having contractions…we ended up going to the hospital Friday night and Baby Atlas was here on Saturday morning! :) So, once it started it went quick!

Can’t wait to see your bundle of joy!

  26. Wow, I haven’t had corn pops since I was a kid! Even when I was a kid though, I didn’t love the really sugary cereals too much (weird, right?). My favorites were always Cheerios, Rice Krispies, and Corn/Rice Chex :)

  27. I totally get the whole impatient thing…something I’m ALWAYS working on! Traffic, long lines, waiting for food to cook! Haha! And the little rant about putting people down? I’m actually reading a book right now that has a lot to do with how people shame other people in order to make themselves feel better about either themselves or for having to hold someone accountable for something…it’s interesting to see them break apart the physiological reasons behind these actions, but I agree, people just need to practice being kind more. Love yo neighbor! Lol

I LOVE sandwiches! My favorite combos change all the time, but as long as it has a good amount of cheese and either some sweet and salty or some crunch to it, I’m good to go! I visited Meghan (www.cleaneatsfastfeets.com) last week and she made me the most AMAZING blueberry grilled cheese! I was in HEAVEN! By the way, she has a great sense of humor…I think you would really like her!

I haven’t had any cereal in a while, but as a self-proclaimed cereal killer, I can always rattle off a list of my favorites (especially since, like you, I was deprived as a child! Ha!): Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Hershey’s Cookies & Creme, Quaker Oat Squares, Life, and Peanut Butter Capt’n Crunch…totally work the whole effin’ up the roof of your mouth thing! Lol
