Nutrex Hawaii + Fun With Friends

Hey you guys!

How’s it rollin’ in your neck of the woods?

I’m doing peachy.

Fun With Friends

So the other night we had a lot of fun with friends– these are girls I’ve known since I was little (and the other, since I was in junior high). We were BFFs all through junior high & high school, but now we live all over the place.

Well, we were all in town the other night!

So I actually got dressed….did my hair (I know, I surprised myself too)…and got myself to the city.

fun with friends

Jared was already there (his school is nearby), so it was fun to meet him there.

We ate dinner (I’ll share more on that tomorrow), and then had some fro yo. Duh.

fun with friends

I am pregnant (duh), the one in the middle has 2 kids, and the 1 on the right has one. He is below:

cutie pie eating a lemon. oh yesss.

It was a fabulous evening! And boy did we talk about babies, births, and more. Our husbands thought this was hilarious & Jared miiiigghhhtt’ve been a bit queasy after all the talk of blood, birthing, etc. Hah. He does not love blood.

Anyways. Nothing’s really changed since HS except that we all have (will have) kids, husbands, etc. 😉 We picked up right where we left off last time (with one, I was in her wedding & she in mine), and the other we haven’t stayed as close.

Nonetheless, it was a fun night out & I am glad we ate, talked, and had a blast! It was worth the drive/time/effort/late night (I was fading fast around 10:30…. haha)

And, because I try hard to balance my fun with stuff that should boost my vitality, I give you, Nutrex Hawaii & their products that I got to try!

Nutrex Hawaii

Nutrex Hawaii is a company that sells Spirulina Pacifica and Hawaiian Astaxanthin.

If you’ve never heard of those words, let me explain. :)

Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica comes from the deep waters near Hawaii (not Idaho…hehe), and is a:

“strain of Spirulina with the highest known nutritional content in the world. It’s all natural, 100% vegetarian, Kosher Certified, and Non-GMO.  It’s the only Spirulina cultured in a Biosecure Zone free of herbicides and pesticides on the sunny Kona coast of Hawaii.  Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica thrives in ponds fed with 100% fresh potable water from Hawaiian aquifers and pure, deep ocean water drawn from 2000 feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean.  This ultra-pure, deep ocean water enriches Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica with 94 trace minerals and is a unique natural resource used in our patented Ocean Chill Drying™ technology which ensures maximum nutrient potency.”

I’m all for boosting my vitality –and it promises to boost immunity & increase energy levels. Pretty much magic in a bottle.

Although, I must say, it is not uber tasty….

See that black stuff on the spoon? I would recommend choking it down with lemonade as fast as possible. I’m not a fan of mixing it in foods, I’d rather just take it & be done with it.

But beauty comes with a price, right? Right. And that price is that it’s not super tasty…

However, you can get the Spirulina Pacifica in pill form.

Yes, I felt amazingly healthy while doing so.

I also received the BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin.

“As nature’s most powerful antioxidant, BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin has been documented to show a wide range of benefits in human clinical studies on several serious health concerns. Due to its molecular structure, Astaxanthin is one of the few antioxidants that can move throughout the entire body and provide protection to all of our cells. Astaxanthin has the unique property that it can protect the entire cell- it has polar hydrophilic ends that span across the entire cell membrane.  Most other well-known antioxidants cannot do this. Our Astaxanthin comes from fresh water algae grown on our farm in Kona, Hawaii. “

Once again, there are so many benefits to taking this as well–and we all have heard about how antioxidants are super powerful. They literally reduce the oxidation of the cell (hence the name), and have shown to be very beneficial in protecting our bodies & cells.

I pretty much felt awesome these last few days as I’ve been taking these.

And it’s a really great way to start your day-you even feel healthy taking it, even before it hits your system. winning.

Check out what products Nutrex Hawaii has to offer when you have a moment. I’m glad I tried this out–and now I can pretend I know what I’m talking about when I say “I eat Spirulina.” 😉

If for only that, get the stuff. We can be Spirulina buddies!

Thankful Thursday

  1. I’m thankful I have a clean apartment. I may or may not have gone a little cray the other day with the cleaning….
  2. I am also grateful for a washer & dryer that work. It’s the simple things, folks.
  3. I am thankful for fro yo places that have unlimited sample cups. Yes, I am that person who takes them all. :)

  1. i’ve only heard of spirulina but have never tried to myself! interesting!

  2. You’re so cute, glad you got to enjoy some friend time!
And I really like spirulina. At first it can be a bit overpowering, which is why it’s good to start small I suppose, but it makes for some yummy smoothies. I guess if you hate the taste that’s where the pills come in though;)

  3. My fiance uses that same brand of spirulina and puts it in juice and smoothies. I use EnergyBits which are spirulina as well, but I just get to swallow the pills! :)

  4. SO fun! Catching up with old friends is always awesome. You look adorable!

  5. I would like to try some Spirulina because I definitely need the energy boost right now for sure! Glad you had such a fun night out with friends…That baby is precious!

  6. My friend and I were talking a few days ago about how when we’re married and older we should get pregnant at the same time and take cliche pregnancy photos 😉 Haha!

  7. I totally forgot it is 7-11 day! Thanks for the reminder! I haven’t tried spirulina, i’ll have to check it out!

  8. I love Nutrex BioAstin!

  9. Aw man! I completely forgot 7/11 day, and I just got home from being out since 9am. Boo!! Wish I’d read this before I left. So great you got to catch up with old friends. Those are the best kind of meet-ups, the kind where it feels like it’s only been days since you’ve seen each other, not years. :-)

  10. j hasbrooke says:

OMG. If you’re pregnant you should consult with your healthcare provider before beginning any supplement regimen, especially algae based ingredients like spirulina and astaxanthin. They can possibly contain microcystins which are really bad from mommy and baby. Just saying.

    • thanks for your concern. the astaxanthin had a warning on it–so I gave it to my husband, never took it myself-simply gave the info in the blog post. My doc had no prob w/me trying the spirulina. It is no ‘regimen,’ I simply tried it out for review. thanks! :)
