Lake Powell Family Houseboat Vacation 2013

Hey friends!

The long-awaited recap with pictures is here! (I didn’t take a ton of photos–> phone+water+sand+sunscreen=not ideal conditions, but you’ll see a good smattering)

It was an incredible week of fun, sun, water, and family time.

My parents own a houseboat (a share of one), so we love going to the lake to enjoy a week of fun. I am grateful they’re so kind to let us come along. πŸ˜‰

I flew to Denver the Friday before to spend some time with family (a bunch of us were convening there & driving down caravan style), so a few pics will be of that first. We had a blast!

I had 3 siblings who couldn’t make the trip, and 1 sibling who is out of the country (on an LDS mission in Switzerland), so there were about 23 of us on the boat (my parents, siblings & their spouses, and nieces/nephews + 1 friend of my brother’s). We missed those who couldn’t make it (I especially missed Jared), but we still managed to have a total blast. πŸ˜‰

The Drive

We left Sunday morning-early, after church.

Here is my buddy who sat next to me for most of the trip:

Lake Powell

We arrived Sunday night, got on board the boat, slept some, and then awoke eaaarrlllyy Monday to do the food shopping (my dad & I). We left the marina around 1030 am on Monday.

You boat along for awhile until you find a great spot–and a fantastic spot we did find! It was a sandy beach & totally perfect.

{I was in charge of helping the kids with the s’mores, so I got to decide how much chocolate to give them…let’s just say they only needed one s’more b/c I was so generous with the chocolate. ;)}

One evening we spent all night on the beach-and ended up putting the kids to bed pretty late. It was super fun to be in the sand with the sun going down! Some cartwheels ensued…

{me & my bro. what is going on with my hair!? hah}

Although I wanted to water ski, I refrained. Which is probably much better & safer for me & baby girl. But I did go on the tubes & jet skis a few times. And I’m not gonna lie, it was amazing. I love being on the water or in the water!

Me & my sisters swam every day, laid out, read, talked, napped, and spent as much time as possible in the sun (with lots & lots of sunscreen on). I am happy to report I got my tan. Pictures don’t do it justice, but yes, I am a few shades darker & my hair a few shades lighter!

Wahooo!

I only worked out 1 day-I had no desire to do more. Fine by me!

The Trip Home

Sadly the trip had to come to an end. The ride home was much less eventful.

Well, with that lovely trip down memory lane, I am now off to work, teach BP, meet up with some cute girls, and then fall into bed.

Have a GREAT day! <3

  19. I have so many comments about this post I don’t even know where to start! First off, how adorable are all those little blonde headed cuties running around. Hope baby Perks is blonde! :-) I agree with the kiddos, yogurt samples are where it’s at! I can really relate to you about the big ole family vacation. I’m the oldest of 5, and although we don’t have lots of little ones running around quite yet, there are still lots of us there between spouses, boyfriends/girlfriends, and friends. We usually rent a big house at the beach for a week. It is SO MUCH FUN! They always keep me laughing, and I love the quality time we all get to spend together now that everyone is off living their own lives.

    So glad you had such a wonderful time! And yes, you DO look quite tan, and that baby bump is growing! Such a sweet hubby you have; he missed his girls lots!
