22 Weeks {Random Pregnancy Thoughts}

Hey, hey!

I had just enough time to put this together before we left for the lake. And since I ‘start’ a new week on Saturdays, I was able to get it all set up before we hit the houseboat –where we’ll have no internet or phone. Enjoy!

22 Weeks {Random Pregnancy Thoughts}

Baby Perks is just over 22 weeks today and is about the length of a spaghetti squash or papaya, depending on where you read.

Here’s what Baby Perks has been up to this week:

  • Baby Perks is about 11 inches long and just about 1 pound (2 weeks ago she was 15 ounces, so I’m betting she’s over a pound now)
  • She’s starting to look like a miniature newborn! Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and she’s even developing tiny tooth buds beneath her gums.
  • Her eyes have formed, but her irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.
  • Inside her belly, her pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
  • She’s sleeping in cycles — about 12 to 14 hours per day. (p.s. I wish I could sleep that much….)

And here’s what’s been happening with me this past week:

How far along? 22 weeks (& 2 days)

Baby’s size? spaghetti squash or papaya

Total weight gain/loss: 8 pounds so far (1.5 weeks ago). So probably 9 ish?

Stretch marks? nada

Sleep: This week, again, I slept great! I seriously conk out once I go to bed…and I can’t really remember anything much that happened right before bed. Sometimes I don’t remember if I prayed, or kissed Jared goodnight, or if I set my alarm. Whoopsies!

Best moment this week: Getting to see family again this past weekend to begin the trip south! And celebrating her papa’s birthday! :)

Miss Anything? Not crying at every moment….

Movement: She is moving like crazy in there! I love, love feeling her move. She’s even more active than last week! Oh, and I don’t think she likes real loud, startling noises…in the imax 3-d movie, she literally jabbed me right after a really loud bang! hah. Hoping we didn’t hurt her ears?!

Food cravings: Nothing much. I just love all foods that I’ve always loved around this Summer time-ice cream, watermelon, burgers, peach cobbler, sweet potato fries, spinach smoothies, pizza, cheese. Oh and MILK.

Food aversions: Practically nothing! Except 1 time this week I yarfed again. Annoying. Plus I didn’t do anything ‘wrong’ (it wasn’t my pills either), so that was a bummer. It seems a pattern…every 2 weeks I get sick 1x during the week. I guess that’s better than it was with every day?!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Just that one day–oatmeal & fruit. Sad.

Gender: GIIIIIRRRLLLLLL!!!!! <3

Labor Signs: Obviously none.

Symptoms: Her kicking/moving. A few more round ligament pains. 1x yarf episode

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Maternity clothes? A few tops & bras mixed in with my normal stuff.

Baby items purchased? YEP. a car seat. And a Boppy pillow with a cover!

Happy or moody most of the time: happy!! And teary. I cried a lot this week for some odd reason? Hormones.

Funny moments this week: How I keep dropping everything. Does pregnancy turn you into butterfingers? My phone, my pills, my plate of food, a watermelon….you name it. It ends up on the ground!

Looking forward to: Jared being able to feel her kick/move! Come on baby, grow & get stronger so he can feel ya!

Fitness Thoughts at 22 weeks:

22 weeks -pregnancy update

{taken a few days before ‘turning’ 22 weeks}

  • Once again, this week I’ve felt really awesome fitness-wise! It’s been such a fantastic blessing.
  • I love teaching fitness, and I think I always will.  My doc’s given me the okay so I’m still doing (mostly) what I did before.
  • I continue to really love being an example of a fit pregnant woman. It’s empowering, motivating (for me to keep it up!), and simply awesome. I’ve loved taking on that role & hope to write about it more in the future. That old ‘schtuff’ about laying around for 9 months?! Ohhhh puuuhhhlease. (unless under doc’s orders–more on all that in this post)
  • Also, for reference, I’ve completely stopped lying on my belly at all (there are some moves in CXWORX that require it), and I coach it instead.
  • My doc said lying on the back while doing chest presses or other moves is fine for short periods, and so far it’s still comfortable. Once she/the belly gets bigger, I’ll add a riser to one side of the bench so I’m tilted at an angle.

Random Pregnancy Thoughts

(Ashley did this a few times–and it was so fun to ‘hear’ what she was thinking!)

“I am so excited for her to arrive!”

“I am also way way nervous for her to arrive!”

“I really wish she would kick harder so Jared can feel what I feel.”

“Baby stuff is crazy expensive. Who buys all that stuff?!”

“People say your appetite is even larger while breastfeeding…dude, I can’t even imagine-as it is, I can polish off several slices of anything, and then go back for more later!” 

“Reading other peoples’ birth stories is super exciting, sweet, and really really scary.”

“Should I get a doula?”

“Why can’t babies shift more to the side so I can lay on my tummy to read?”

“Pretty sure I ‘need’ more lululemon clothes to make me feel cute while teaching my fitness classes….” :)

“Baby is going to love the sun by the time she comes out!”

“I am so grateful I get to be doing this all with Jared by my side.”

“Why does pregnancy make people think they can say whatever about you & your body to you? So odd”

  7. I love when women continue to work out while pregnant! Obviously if you can’t, then that’s one thing. But you’re really motivating for when I’m pregnant (in errrr 10 years 😉 )

    I love reading about your thoughts while pregnant. I have thoughts like that too and I’m not even pregnant 😉 Haha. It’s always weird to me how you can love someone so much inside there, but you don’t even know what they look like, right. I mean aren’t you so excited to see what your baby will look like. Or maybe I’m just weird.

    love your posts, you look absolutely gorgeous!!!!! i have random thoughts all the time, i honestly can’t imagine them intensified… my hormones are whack sometimes! today i’m wondering if i should take a nap or lift weights at lunch… and what do i want to eat, blahblahblahblah.
    the summer heat is really making me crave citrus fruits and salads… but also chocolate and peanut butter, go figure :)

  14. OMgosh, I have your same clear glass plates. That’s funny – that I would even notice that. I think I was marveling that you crave pizza. I was so far from wanting to eat anything at 22 weeks. Well, congrats, because you’ve had your baby by now. I love detailed progress posts and yours with the love letter to baby! Helpful for other moms and such a great way to journal your memories. I’ve read some week by week books and looked up blogs because I love the baby bonding/developmental information. I just started reading a book I think blows all the others away, and great for every pregnancy, not just the first. It says at 22 weeks that baby’s fingernails cover the whole nail bed and she/he can taste sweet and bitter flavors. Very cool. It has a section in it where you can journal and write letters to baby just like you are doing on your blog. It’s called “The Wonder Within You: celebrating your baby’s journey from conception to birth” by Carey Wickersham. It’s an awesome combination of week-to-week pregnancy information, what’s going on with the baby, “Did you know?” plus health advice about what to eat, cravings, nutrition, etc, BUT also with awesome 3D/4D pictures and videos you can link or QR with your phone to and see what your baby looks like at each week stage. Even better than the typical week-to-week books, and so personal! It’s got mom stories, too. The pregnancy information is as up-to-date as it gets and it’s such a great keepsake. I want to get one for everybody I know who is expecting! I highly recommend it!
