17 Weeks {Gender Reveal!}

Hey friends!

I am just going to make you wait a little bit longer…..

hehe. I am so mean. So I made my fitness class raise their hands to vote on the gender before we began class on Monday, and those who got it wrong had to do pushups… Mwhahahaha. They love me though, so it’s all good.

So if you guess wrong, you can bust out some pushups too, mmmkay?

17 Weeks {Gender Reveal}

So…..

Baby Perks is a…..

……..

GIRL!

Fun, right?

And now, because you all love these updates I am sure, here are the rest of my thoughts (which 90% of you won’t read now that you finally know the gender. hah)…

Baby Perks is just over 17 weeks today and is about the size of an onion.

Here’s what else Baby Perks has been up to this week:

  • SHE is about 5 inches long (head to rump) and weighs about 5 ounces.
  • Baby Perk’s skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it.
  • Her umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and the little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints. And I got to see those tiny footprints on the ultrasound! SO cool.
  • She can move her joints (yes, yes she can! such an active little one), and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

And here’s what’s been happening with me this past week:

17 weeks -gender reveal

How far along? 17 weeks (& 2 days)

Baby’s size? onion

Total weight gain/loss: 5 pounds. But my doc isn’t too worried–he just said I need to gain close to a pound a week from here on out to catch up. Yowzers-that’s intense.

Stretch marks? nada

Sleep: This week I slept pretty great. However, bathroom trips are at least 2x/night….and I found out her head is resting near my bladder…that explains everything!

Best moment this week: Finding out our baby is a SHE & that she is crazy active! The tec kept saying it over & over–she was like, “dang, this little one is a mover!” My husband is not surprised, I can’t ever sit still! She also has a healthy heart beat at 156 bpm!

It was also super fun telling all our friends & fam the gender news. Most of my really close friends guessed right, actually-they must ‘know’ me well.

Miss Anything? Some of my jeans are starting to get tight & uncomfortable where they button (her body is right there, so that makes sense)…so I tried out the hairband around the button trick–that’s pretty nifty! And will be used any time I need to eat lots, even when I’m not pregnant. ;)

Movement: She is moving like crazy! So so fun to see that. However, I haven’t felt her yet. Hopefully soon!

Food cravings: pizza, apples, cheese, lime sherbet, berries, cucumbers, eggs, chocolate chip cookies and sour candy

17 weeks

17 weeks

Food aversions: Chocolate (by itself sounds gross. in cookies, yumm), & caramel, & almond butter still don’t sound good. I’ve also not been loving granola for some odd reason? I think I’ve eaten too much of it lately.

Anything making you queasy or sick: It seems to be getting better! Finally.

Gender: GIIIIIRRRLLLLLL!!!!! <3

Labor Signs: Obviously none.

Symptoms: Not many actually. I feel pretty awesome. Another side note-my chest has grown again, I think! It’s like daaaaannng. Do they ever stop? haha (The only time I don’t feel fab is if I eat my pills without enough food in my stomach….that, I’ve discovered, is a no-no)

Belly Button in or out? In. probably will stay that way.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Maternity clothes? The pink top in the above photo is a maternity one! I love how the maternity shirts & tanks are LONG. My torso is long (I’m 5’8′), so it’s nice to have shirts that are longer. I haven’t worn any bottoms that are maternity yet.

Baby items purchased? nada.

Happy or moody most of the time: happy!! Except for a sad night when I could not fall asleep for the life of me. Then I was frustrated.

Funny moments this week: Sitting down with a huge bowl of lime sherbet & texting my husband about the awesomeness of that. It was pretty funny. Also funny/cool: how I’ve started feeling rounder! I’m officially entering the questionable ‘is she letting herself go?’ stage. Ya know, the one where people who aren’t sure ask their friends or themselves that… hah

Looking forward to: Feeling her MOVE!!!!

Fitness Thoughts at 17 weeks:

  • I’m feeling great fitness-wise!
  • On that note, I’ve noticed I have a lot more energy than I used to have (ahem, first trimester, I am looking at you), so that’s been fantastic. Plus, endorphins, I really love you. And it seems she does too!
  • GRIT is definitely still harder nowadays, and so I coach a lot more. (like I said last week). However, GRIT does end in 2 weeks-which is both real sad & a bit nice. I will expound upon this in a later post this week.

Be honest–are YOU surprised we’re having a GIRL?!?! <—if you guessed wrong, did YOU bust out the pushups?! :) What delicious food are YOU eating lately?? Those of YOU with kids, when did YOU feel your baby move??
