I Love Love (Happy Valentine’s Day!) + Winner

Hey!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!! <3

Yay!! I love today. V-Day is so fun to celebrate, in my opinion. I will be working (duh) and then teach a class tonight (BP & CXWORX), so after Jared and I will have a low key dinner, some dessert, & some quality couple time. Hopefully he’ll give me a back massage…… (think he’ll get the memo??)

I Love Love

So I admit it, I love love. I always have and always will.

I am that girl who loves the fairytales, the happy endings, the beautiful marriages (I even have a pin board about it!), the sappy love stories.

LOVE it all.

And I am proud of it! 😉

I am also the girl who wears pink, sparkles, and glitter because I enjoy being a woman and embrace that side of me.

I am also an emotional person who cries in commercials (the one Courtney posted about with the horse–yep, totally dropped a tear or two), in movies, at church, and by hearing great miracles that happen to various people I love.

I must have a heart, I guess?! 😉

I kid, I kid. If you don’t cry often it doesn’t mean you don’t have a heart– I just had to throw that in as a pun, you know, since it’s Valentine’s Day and all. :)

flowers -valentine's

{V-day 2010, right after we got engaged, and our first Valentine’s together!}

My husband and I joke (okay, I am the one who started it), that our love story is quite like a fairytale. So I like to refer to our life as living a fairytale!

{NOTE: we definitely have disagreements, we’re in debt because my husband went back to school, and we’ve got other ‘problems’ in our own lives, so please don’t think I’m saying our life is perfect. However, we choose to do our best & not worry to much about the ‘crappy’}

Have you noticed how the fairytales all seem to ‘end’ once the two get married though??

But for us? We’re determined to keep OUR fairytale alive. <3

Like I said, I am a sap. And luckily I married a man who is okay with that and who happily feeds his wife’s emotional side with sweet texts, cards, moments, and gifts.

And the best part of it all? Guess what my nickname has been since junior high??

Princess.

{A guy who worked for our family & became a dear, dear friend dubbed me that because I was so bossy, prissy, girly, frilly, and hated dirt/bugs/boy things}

*******

There are a variety of different kinds of love (Storge, Philia, Eros -and Venus, & Agape), and I think Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to think about the variety of different people in our lives whom we love –within the different types of love!

Wherever you are and with whomever you’re with (or not), when you share your love with others around you, you’ll find more love. Guaranteed.

And that is why I love to share my time and energy with these people (& each represents a different kind -or kinds- of love to me):

  • Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ
  • my husband
  • my mom & dad
  • my siblings (all 9!!) & their spouses
  • my nieces & nephews (there are like 19 I think?)
  • Jared’s parents/siblings & their spouses
  • my close friends
  • my ‘gym peeps’
  • my blog readers (you!!)
  • people whom I go to church with

Hehe I love valentines day too!! We have dinner plans with another couple tonight who we both love as well!!

  2. I am absolutely NOT surprised by this post at all 😉 You are such a girl LOL

We don’t do anything for V-day…Never have really…The most we will do is watch sappy chick flicks and eat popcorn but tonight we will be at the gym…Me yoga, him treadmill…And then we will come home and watch the Big Bang Theory and The Office and go to bed :)

You have a HUGE family! Whenever you mention it I am astounded!

  3. I have the word ‘princess’ tattooed on my leg – so clearly I’ve got the Disney, fairytale, romantic thing down :-p
We’re actually delaying our Valentine’s until Saturday when the boy is off work – I’m still going to make a nice dinner tonight though, and of course, follow up with a bit of chocolate 😀

  4. Happy Valentine’s Day, Annette! I have plans to make a special dinner for us tonight . . . :)

  5. Amelia says:

I hope I don’t rain on your LOVE story when I say that my husband and I don’t celebrate V-day, but I’m glad you do. :) It has always been just another day to us. Instead he usually surprises me throughout the year on days that are not a “Hallmark” holiday.

Our V-Day plans consist of him listening to me practice my case study presentation tonight. 😉 How romantic.

  6. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Happy Valentine’s day to me ;). I’m super excited. Let me know what info you need. We have very similar schedules today=teaching, work! Have a good one.

  7. You’re too cute. This post doesn’t surprise me one bit! 😉 We’re honestly not huge into Valentine’s Day, but I’m all about a romantic date night any other day of the year! Hope you two have a great evening together. Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo

  8. Awe, this was great! Even though I’m not in love, I still love love and appreciate all those who have found that special person! I think that’s a beautiful thing. I’m the same with loving all those girly things, pink, glitter, but I’m extremely emotional. Yep, those commercials get me everytime and don’t get started on Hallmark commercials. Dang, they make me cry!
Hope you two have a fantastic day together:)

  9. I love this post! I also love love and am so happy I’m not the only one. I sometimes feel like the bad guy for getting excited for Valentine’s Day (I always did, even when I was single), so it’s fun to be surrounded by people who love it as much as I do!

  10. I’m definitely a hopeless romantic, I’m just waiting for my fairytale to start! Haha and I’ve finally gotten to a place where I LOVE Valentines Day. I hated it all through college (I’ve always been single) but now I’ve learned to embrace all the other loves in my life: my family, my friends, and MYSELF!

  11. Danielle says:

Love love love love me some love, and love this post! Happy happy hearts and love day to you girlie, you are a joyful soul and you spread love and sunshine all over the world :)
Though I may not be in love with someone in particular, I feel filled with love for my family, friends and honestly, I just feel blessed. I don’t really share my spiritual/religious views openly, but I feel that our Heavenly Father is really the all-time Valentine, and because of that I felt like today was not just for couples, but for everyone, couples and singles and alls! We are all loved by Him, so I feel like I have a special someone all the time, and nobody is ever alone. It’s pretty cool actually 😀
I treated my mom and brother for a V-day lunch today in a cute little Parisian bistro, and it felt just like Paris, but pricier believe it or not! We had a yummy meal in the sunshine. I’ll be celebrating all weekend with friends and family and spreading the love wherever I can, even while I’m busting my booty cycling. LOL

    • I LOVE your comments!! You are such a sweetheart, girl <3 I think it's awesome you treated your mom & bro to a little yummy bistro place. Mmmmmm!

And you're right--He is our all-the-time Valentine. GREAT thought!!

      xoxo

  12. We have V Day plans but for Saturday not Thursday (although I did a bit of V Day celebrations during Body Step haha- I think they were sick of my love and mushiness by the end :P). On Saturday night we are dining at a new fancy restaurant and staying over night in a hotel nearby after :)

    • Ohhhh FUN!!! That sounds like a lovely way to celebrate :)

I too made everyone wear pink or red last night to BP/CX 😉 hah
