Be Kinder

Hey friends!

How’s it going?

I am doing pretty good…. I can’t work though, without thinking about how totally sad I am about the events in CT. It makes me so angry, horrified, sad, and honestly, quite a bit scared for humanity.

I think we all feel like there’s not much we can do, and truthfully there isn’t much but pray for all those suffering.

I have been praying nonstop that those families & community affected may feel the peace only He who knows all can bring. He will take care of those little ones until they meet again, of that I am sure. However, that doesn’t take away the pain of the loss & separation. And my heart aches for each and every one affected. <3

twas’ 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven’s gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled wit

h such joy, they didn’t know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
“where are we?” asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
“this is heaven.” declared a small boy. “we’re spending Christmas at God’s house.”
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus’ face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, “I’ll take care of mom and dad.”
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
“Let My power and presence re-enter this land!”
“may this country be delivered from the hands of fools”
“I’m taking back my nation. I’m taking back my schools!”
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
“come now my children, let me show you around.”
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
“in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT.”Written by Cameo Smith, Mt. Wolf, PA

So touching. Tears rolled down my cheeks when I read that, and I just had to share.

*******

There is something else we can sort of do in light of this all……… BE kinder. Be more loving. And really live each moment to its fullest. It’s SO important!

Be Kinder

Hold your loved ones tight, and be kinder & more compassionate to everyone you meet. Everyone is precious in God’s sight,  let’s live more like that, eh?

Sometimes I’ll read previous comments on blogs, and often I am totally baffled as to why there are so many MEAN comments?! I mean, really? Most of the time those comments are by generic names without blogs to hide identity, but still. Internet bullying & leaving unkind comments only makes the world an uglier place.

{And to be honest, most people who say ugly things & are super rude tend to have deeper issues going on. Often I pity them. It’s sad that some feel like the only way to express how they’re feeling is through negative emotions :/ }

If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it–out loud or on the Internet. And yes, there IS a difference between having an opinion/disagreeing with someone and being plain RUDE & mean.

I think if we really did look closer & were able to see each other’s divine potentials, we’d be a whole lot kinder. Some people have this divine gift–and it’s something I work towards each day.

I want to be the one who puts a smile on someone else’s face. Who helps brighten someone else’s day. Who says the nice compliment. Who simply looks for the GOOD in others, instead of the negative or competitiveness.

Being kinder goes a looooooonnnggg way. And it is something we ALL CAN DO. Right now. Today. It can change lives. And yes, you never know, it could save lives.

You have the power within you to brighten someone else’s day. So wield that power & use it wisely. 😉

Cheers!

Happy Holidays <3

  1. I love this post Annette. I have been giving compliments more often and just trying to be friendlier to strangers. I think we could all benefit from that. Sometimes one little thing you say can turn someones day around.

We are all in this together and if we remember that we will be more understanding to the struggles of others.

  2. Thank you for this HONEST and heart-felt post. As Friday’s events were unfolding, I said to my husband “Here we are trying to teach our kids that people are GOOD, and then this happens. How do we explain this to her?” But the more I thought about it the more I realized that most people ARE intrinsically good, and that we should continue to foster that belief in our children!
The quote from Buddah is one I think of often. Thank you for YOUR loving heart!

  3. Great collection of inspiring quotes! There have been a few cute acts of kindness from my students this week, as we head towards Winter Break on Friday. So sweet–it makes my day!

  4. That poem definitely made me cry. I was walking down the street the other day coming home from the gym and an older gentleman passing me stopped and said “Well isn’t someone looking beautiful today?” Lol and I decided to take it in a non-creepy, brighten your day kind of way.

  5. I read that poem on Facebook and shared it there…it is amazing! Beautiful! Tear jerking…

  6. This is beautiful Annette. And shows how lovely and big your heart is. It is so important to be compassionate towards everyone, each day. We all fight a different battle and don’t know what others have been through. This post made me cry a little haha. I’ve definitely been thinking constantly of all the people affected by this unfortunate tragedy. If we all do these things together, the world could be a better place. Little changes do add up to big changes.

Thank you for this post Annette. It was perfect.

  8. Lovely post! It seems everyone has really shifted from this tragedy.

The last kind thing I did was help a friend out in a time of need. The last kind thing someone did for me was bear with me during my struggles.

  9. This is awesome and I needed it. I’ve been wondering what our world is coming to. To often we hear of things like this at Sandy Hook and it breaks my heart. Good things do come from heartache though. If any one is interested check this out:
