Lifting Motivation

Hey friends!

It’s a holiday here in Utah today (Pioneer Day)–so I don’t teach BodyPUMP tonight (and no spin class this a.m.), but my company is not based in UT, so I am still working. Nonetheless, it’ll be kind of fun to ‘have a night off’ tonight. 😉

P.s. GO read this great post written by Ashley. You’ll see everything in a more positive, better way if you do. Promise! (read: crappy days will be a lot less crappy)

Lifting Motivation

As you all know, I fell in love with weight training. Head over heels, actually, and am still going strong! I LOVE the feeling of lifting heavy weights. I love seeing the results. I love knowing I am getting stronger. And I love the sweat pouring from my face as I grunt through 1 more rep.

I just plain love it.

But, I do realize that not everyone loves to lift weights. I also get the fact that some may not be seeing results.

First off, I was one of those cardio queens for many years, so you all who think it’s just not for you, do not give up hope!  😉

And for those of you who are currently doing a strength training program and not really seeing the results and/or aren’t getting stronger, read this article about reasons you’re not getting stronger.

And now I leave you with some of my favorite inspirational quotes an pictures to help YOU love lifting too:

If you wish you were leaner, stronger, fitter, faster, sexier, wiser, hotter, or more in love with yourself, STOP wishing and GO lift weights.

All of those things can be yours if you do. And you’ll be able to train your mind-and your head won’t give up while in the midst of your goals.

I may sound harsh (hello trainer side of me), but you’ll never know your power or your strength unless you pick up the freaking weights.

Alright-y, I am off to go do a tough lifting session (with these quotes and pics in mind-wahoo!), bike, and then work.

Have an AWESOME day, my fabulous readers!

What is YOUR lifting motivation?? What kinds of ways do YOU help yourself get psyched to lift heavier weights?? What do YOU feel is keeping YOU from loving lifting weights??!

  1. I like how stronger lifting makes me! Even when I’m not running, but I am lifting, and I do start running again, I find that I am much faster!

  2. Thanks for the shoutout lady! :) I LOVE lifting! Everything you’re saying here is absolutely the truth! Go YOU!

  3. i need to hire you as my personal trainer hahaha…i’m so bad when it comes to dedicating the time to strength training :/

  4. haha! I love the one – “well, it’s not going to lift itself!”

I have never read that one before! LOVE IT!

    Love you too girrrrl 😉

  5. Oh fun that it’s Pioneer Day. Random fact and one of my coolest experiences relates to Utah’s Pioneer Day…several years ago, I flew out to Utah for an amazing camping trip I’ll never forget. My flight was coming to Salt Lake City late at night…and I saw from the awesome city and all of the fireworks going off across the ENTIRE city as I flew over the state. SO AMAZING. Random…but I thought I’d share. (Great post by the way) Wishing you the best!

  6. LOVE THIS. Seriously, this was a great post. My favorite: “one of the greatest moments is realizing that two weeks ago your body couldn’t do what it just did”. What an incredible feeling … and one I look forward to feeling all the time!

  7. After being a cardio queen for about 4-5 years, I’ve definitely been converted to ways of heavy weights. I love the feeling of watching my strength improve and my body transform. I used to literally have twigs for arms – and now I have biceps, which excites me to no end.

I’ll definitely continue on with the heavy weights – it does make a huge difference in your body!

  8. Love this! I now love lifting too. I used to hate it because I had no idea what i was doing! I think that’s a big hurdle for people to get over…once they have an idea of how to actually lift weights then I think it becomes much easier and more fun!

  9. This is awesome! I love the feeling of uppin your weights and then pushing yourself to do it.
