Guest Post: Sweet Things

Good Morning!

I am thoroughly enjoying my vacation! It was a much needed break, and I am taking ample time to relax. And my friends, you have been in good hands, eh?! Here’s another awesome lady, sharing her wisdom and tasty delights with us.


Hi to all of Annette’s readers!!! My name is Lindsay and I am the blogger behind In Sweetness and In Health. As you can sort of tell from the name, my blog is about fitness and health and also about enjoying those sweeter things in life.

On my blog I often talk about eating healthy, but also about indulging in sweeter foods. I have a huge sweet tooth and it’s something that I constantly have to keep in check or else my diet would probably consist of cookies, ice cream, and brownies haha 😉 (kidding…sort of).

Anyway, I always try to eat as healthy as I can because I feel more energized, focused, and ready to engage in my life that way. However, I definitely make sure to treat myself at least once a week so that my cravings are satisfied and don’t go crazy.

Also, if I’m going to delight in a dessert, then it better be worth it. Why would I want to inhale some extra calories for something that isn’t very good?? A few of my favorite ways to indulge include:

  • Frozen yogurt with tasty toppings 😀 {Annette says: ME TOO!! LOVE this one!!}

  • Cake…especially birthday cake with buttercream frosting!

  • Cookies!

Sometimes though, I want something sweet but I also want it to be healthy. That’s where I attempt to create something that seems indulgent but actually isn’t!

My favorite ways to do this are:

  • Making banana soft serve! This stuff is soooo delicious and super easy to make. I like to add some chocolate protein powder and peanut butter to make it taste even more decadent!
  • Making healthified baked goods by substituting ingredients! I like to take more traditional baked goods and sub in whole wheat flour, oatmeal, applesauce, and agave nectar instead of using standard white flour, butter, and sugar! My two favorite muffins are sooo incredibly tasty and sweet…AND healthy :D. They are my strawberry-orange muffins and my oatmeal chocolate chip banana muffins!
  • I also like to add healthy sweetener, in the form of stevia, to foods such as greek yogurt, smoothies, oatmeal, and cottage cheese to make them and the mixtures I make with them more dessert like!

Now that I have found other ways to satisfy my sweet tooth I feel like I can indulge a bit more without feeling guilty about it :D.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post!! I hope you realize from it that while it is definitely okay to indulge in real desserts sometimes, you can also create healthier treats for yourself so you don’t feel deprived!
