If You Change Nothing, Nothing Will Change

It is moving day around here; we’re off to head to a new adventure (we’re moving)! We’re totally excited, but also a little nervous about what’s really in store for us. Hah. Gotta love change, right?!

{can’t wait to see him again and start our adventure!}

And that my friends, is what I wanted to talk about.

If YOU Change Nothing, Nothing Will Change

My new favorite saying is the one above. If you want to be stronger, faster, fitter, happier, healthier, better, kinder, lovelier, leaner, sexier, and/or nicer, you MUST change something.

You see, if you only keep doing what you’re doing, your current situation will stay the same….or get worse. ‘Tis the truth. And I promise you won’t be happy if you just stay the same.

We did not come here to this earth to just diddy dally around. It is not in our natures! We came to work, to love, to learn, to experience, and to become better and greater than we ever thought possible.

{and to be happy!}

We came to create the magic and potential we were always meant to have and to be.

Let’s think about this, it is really true with anything: once we get content with something, it is time for a new challenge, an exciting adventure, a brand new workout plan, a race to train for, and/or a kinder way of treating others AND ourselves. We are no good if we just lie around existing or doing the same old, same old!

It is a boring, unhappy way to live.

And that is why, my friends, I challenge you to DO something different.

Let me tell you a quick story: When I was lamenting my current situation of dating woes in 2009 (had just broken up with a guy who I though I really loved….) to my sister and brother, they both gave me similar advice : do something different.

Well, I did. It was hard, and it hurt, but the beauty, fitness, passion, health, and motivation that came out of it were amazing!

For example, I ‘cured’ myself of binge and emotional eating, I finally became free of the horrible tentacle of being a past anorexic, I eventually met my husband later that year, and I started to become a little happier, friendlier, and more passionate. I began my fitness instructor career that year as well.

{so glad I did something different!!}

Change does hurt and can be uncomfortable, however.

But, the effort is SO worth it!

So to whomever is reading this, I want to tell you this : do NOT fear the change. Embrace the beauty that comes with doing something different, because then, ultimately, you will become a better version of yourself.

And who doesn’t want THAT?!

Remember, if you change nothing in _______, nothing will change in ______. (i.e. your fitness plan, your body.)

And with that, I am off to dry my tears, bust out a crazy, fast run, finish up packing, and hop on that plane to begin a brand new adventure with my very best friend (whom I can’t wait to see!!!).

{And yes, I bursted out into tears after teaching my final Zumba class in St. Louis last night. And yes, I choked back tears after teaching my final BodyPUMP class yesterday morning. And yes, I was totally overwhelmed by the hugs, notes, presents, and kind thoughts expressed to me by these amazing ladies at a gym I taught at. I have been SO very blessed!!}

Have a LOVELY day!

{For a morning devotional, listen to a great, spiritual talk about seeing the vision of what YOU can be.}

Now go figure out what YOU can change to become who you want to be in 3, 6, or 12 months! :)

What do YOU think YOU can change to be who YOU want to be in 3 months?? 6 months?? 12 months?? What was a change lately that YOU had to go through to become the awesomeness of YOU??

  7. Change is hard but so wonderful at the same time! I am constantly changing, challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone (many times without even realizing I’m doing it). For instance, I have always been a runner but with a few consecutive injuries I have had to readjust my workouts to incorporate pilates and now I feel stronger and more confident in my abilities as an athlete. It’s certainly not easy but since when was anything worth having or doing easy? hehe. Good luck with move!

  10. “We came to create the magic and potential we were always meant to have and to be.”

    And this is my quote of the day: “The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.”

    And: “You must not ever stop being whimsical. And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.”

  11. Beautiful post…Once again you are brilliant…

    Moving on is a tough tough thing…But you are so right, once you get to where you are going, the reward is so worth it!
