Tuna Fish Salad

Oh heyyyyyy Thursday!

I am a tuna fish lover. I have been through and through for a long time.

I remember coming home from hours and hours of ballet on Saturdays and my favorite thing to eat was a tuna fish sandwich…sliced diagonally of course. And I loved having it with celery.

Oh, and I really don’t care if there are haters. Tuna fish is just SO delicious, people! I don’t love the smell, however, especially if I am not hungry and someone brought in a tuna fish sandwich…..ewwww.

Anyways, the way I build my meals (and snacks) is by checking off in the following order, what to include :

  • vegetable
  • protein
  • fruit
  • complex carb
  • fat

(for snacks there is usually either a fruit OR a carb)

There was some almost wilted celery in the fridge the other day, so I did what any normal gal would do…..I created a meal around it :)

This salad totally has it all! And it takes less than 5 minutes to assemble and make. Yes I timed it (it took me 4:45 from grabbing the stuff to putting it on top of the bread).

Convenience and ease, people. Fast food is NOT fast. It’s wayyyy slower than this, doing it yourself at home!

Tuna Fish Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 can tuna fish
  • 1 Tb light miracle whip
  • 1 Tb spicy mustard
  • 1 Tb plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 stalks celery (I was ambitious…..)
  • 1 Tb dill + more to taste

Directions

  • Drain the tuna fish
  • Mix tuna fish with all of the ingredients.
  • Put mixture atop whole wheat bread and spinach leaves or with crackers
  • Eat with sides of yogurt and an orange

And I bet if we calculated it all out, this meal probably costs less than 5 bucks.

Not to mention the amazing things these delicious foods do to our insides, mood, and eventual total physical health. That is priceless.

  2. i just made a broccoli salad and added a ton of celery! i need to try the greek yogurt for the mayo switch… i don’t eat mayo like at all but i used it for the salad, so i def want to try this switch next time!

  3. not a fan of celery, but i’ll still eat it. i actually like chopping up green olives in my tuna salad! that being said, i DO love tuna! it’s great in salads, on sandwiches, with crackers, you name it!

    today i am thankful that the sun is coming up earlier in the mornings and setting later in the evenings! i love the longer days. :)

  4. i love tuna but hate celery! hahaha…my parents always used to add either onion or celery to our tuna when we were little and i hated it. there is this sundried tomato blend tuna that i love buying..i forget who makes it, either bumblebee or starkist. p.s. tuna sandwiches should always be cut diagonally!

    i am thankful for oatmeal, because its the perfect warm me up breakfast :)

  5. I love tuna sandwiches! I use Greek yogurt + mustard (Dijon) for my tuna salad too. It’s so tasty! :)

  6. Tuna salad is my go to “I want to make something really simple because I’m really tired and don’t want to be in the kitchen longer than 30 seconds” meal. Sooooo, I make it like twice a week. Haha. I like to stir in some corn sometimes, too :)

  7. I actually hate celery haha. But I do love tuna and tuna salad! Today I am thankful that something wonderful happened for my mom. After helping out with my grandpa while he was in hopsice, she needed something good to come around :)

  8. Dude, that is my tuna recipe – almost exactly! Except I use veganaise instead of Miracle whip! I whipped up a batch of tuna salad to have for lunch today and tomorrow- great minds think alike! As much as I love tuna- I don’t eat it very often. I eat “mock tuna salad” made with tofu more often. :)

  10. I love tuna also- I can eat it straigh out of the can if I need to. I almost always put celery in my tuna sands too- I love that extra crunch you get from the fresh veggies! I like to put chopped veggies into a ton of things to sneak in extra greens!
    I’m thankful for my supportive Hubby & 2 Dogs, My Health and for My Bob- seems they are hard to comeby these days!

  12. Great recipe and lunch idea here! It is easy but soo nutritious! I am going to have a similar lunch today at work, and I don’t care people won’t like the smell haha
