How To Never Give Up + Thankful Thursday

How To Never Give Up

I bet you love this post title……I do too.

Because it really boils down to a really simple sentence : If you fall down (or are about to fall down), get back up and try it again-and do it all with patience.

That is WAY easier in theory then it is in practice. I promise. πŸ˜‰

In the fitness, health, and wellness realm, YOU really can achieve any goal or desire YOU want to. You just NEVER give up. You keep trying. And if something is NOT working, you try something else. And the whole time you have patience.

Any goal–especially fitness or health/wellness related will only come with patience, hard work, and effort. Any athlete, fitness guru, or even fitness model or bodybuilder who knows anything about this topic would say that the number one reason they got to where they did/are is because THEY NEVER GAVE UP (And never give up). Anyone else who says it was just easy or a cake walk is lying. Totally lying.

I hate lying. I really do.

The other day as I was coaching the BodyPUMP class along, I told them that I knew they could lift more than they’ve been doing (I could say this because I know them well and see them every week). They decided to take the challenge and add weight to their barsΒ (mind over muscle!). And you know what? They were feeling tired, fatigued, and like they reached their muscle endurance max by the end of the class—-exactly the way they should feel!

To see any real changes in the body and to kick yourself out of a plateau, you need to TRY different things out. They tried new weight, and they were sore the next day in new places. They knew they had succeeded in reaching a small milestone—which would lead to weight loss and strength gains (which are goals for some of these women).

I guess what I am saying is that reaching a plateau, or not making a goal, or worrying about a final destination is not going to be very pleasant if you just give up when you hit that discouragement. Look forward, have some patience, put in the hard work, and never ever give up.

Or like Nike put it so eloquently: “Just Do It.”

  1. Great post! My goal for the past month has been to start doing a few BodyRock videos. Zuzana workouts seem perfect for me since they can be done at home and some don’t require any equipment. The prob is I just can’t get motivated to do it. I’m a single mother and by the time I get home from work, get my son fed and homework done, spend time with him, then take care of my horses while I wait for him to fall asleep…Normally done with everything by 8..I’m just to tired to do anything else. How do you combat that tiredness and stay motivated to workout. (Normally I’m asleep by 9:30..I’m 28 and I feel so old saying that lol)

    • Those workouts sound great!

      To combat tiredness -I take small naps–if that is possible?? I also try and eat a lot of energizing foods (fruits/veggies/beans) and stay away from high sugary or starchy foods. This works for me, of course, but you could try it? I try really hard to shut down electronically by 9-ish, so I can be asleep/in bed by 10. This helps me sleep awesome too! Hope this helps :)

  2. I always say to clients: “Just remember why you’re doing this in the first place. The harder your push yourself, the faster your goals will come.”

    I LOVE the new blog design! wahoo! I would say, be patient with yourself and to not let yesterday’s failures affect your tomorrows successes.

    I am thankful for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, good friends and a day off tomorrow.
